Description:
At Suez Canal.
Im not sure about the exact date, i do know that is was at the late 1980's.
Zim Hadera, was later renamed Blue Sky.
built in 1983.
A record scrap price has been achieved for a bulker.
On 2006, Zim has reportedly sold its 166,000-dwt bulker Blue Sky (formerly Hadera) for demolition to Bangladesh for a full $370.5 per ldt or $10.1m. The price is some $5 per ldt
higher than the previous record price for a bulker (true for 2006).
An earlier effort to sell the ship for further trading had failed to materialise.
I had some voyages on that massive bulker, and its quite sad that she is no longer with us.

If she was buildt in 1983 and scrapped in 2006 she would have had a long service life. And, regardless of her her maintenance, ships at this age, and a bulker as well, she would draw a lot of attention from PSCO in alsmost any port.
Sad as it may be, enjoy the good memories, there is always another ship... :-)
