Pilot told me she and her sister (ALTAIR beside her) were builded to specifications of the Navy by SeaLand before they went belly up.
Twin Turbiners with an incredible fuel consumption.

The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers anually publishes a "Transactions..." book and a volume some years ago (can't remember which) had an article with extensive info. I have another volume with a little info, & i'll look it up & let you know. Malcom McLean was still running Sea Land and they were half way through deliveries of the seven ships of this class when the oil embargo hit and tripled the cost of fuel oil overnight. That hurt.
