Pioneer Crusader

Keel laid:
1962 as SS [b]American Crusader[/b] at Bethlehem Steel Fore River Shipyard, Quincy, MA

18-OCT-1963: Delivered to the Maritime Administration, for operation by the United States Lines

later name changed to SS [b]Pioneer Crusader[/b], and assigned to the Military Sealift Commander (MSC) Ready Reserve Fleet (RRF)

When not activated Pioneer Crusader was laid up in the National Defense Reserve Fleet at Beaumont, TX. and could be activated in 30 days

Downgraded from the Ready Reserve Fleet in 1989
