Description:

MV Caruso, ex-CCGS Tupper on fire at the old Dartmouth Marine Slips, Dartmouth, NS. As Ellwood kindly added just when I got home, the fire has been going since about 4:30 AM this morning. I got there at about 10:30 or so. I didn't see flames, but the smoke is billowing out the port holes aft. She is also clearly listing to starboard.

She was built as the CGS Tupper (later renamed CCGS Tupper) in 1959 for the Canadian Coast Guard. She was decommissioned in 1998 and has been laid up since then.

Very sad to see; I wonder how she'll escape the scrap pile now? Assuming she stays afloat.
