Not quite sure what "peaceboat" is, but a friend of mine who was the ship agent for her predesesor, the Topaz, said she was full of elderly Japanese men and young Japanese women, he described it as " a dirty old mans cruise to heaven!!".

Interestingly she was due in New Zealand about now after going up the US West Coast and over to Japan, then down to NZ and Australia. Obviously they had a change of plan.
I saw here being fitted out as the Song of Norway, in Oslo in early 1970 and was looking forward to seeing her again.

Hello, so the ship you mentioned should rather be called A Girl's Nightmare :-) But you know some women like horror-movies.. :-D
It is interesting, so many different cruise-companies offer a really different program, but this here, I did rather expect that it does smell a bit of "green" and the worst I would have suspected was a ship full of tree-huggers

Hi Cornelia,

Touche, "A girls nightmare", I like that.

But seriously, even my friend wasn't sure what "Peaceboat" was, he got the feeling it was some kind of Japanese travel club and available for members only.

I am looking forward to seeing her down here sometime in the future.

Now I must dig out my colour slide that I took in april 1970.

Interesting photo, but I do wonder, what is the background behind the letters on the hull saying"peaceboat" ? I wonder, what kind of ship that is .. :-) Greetings from Switzerland, Cornelia
