Description:

The bow of Transilvania, taken from Danube after 30 years!!!
Name is clearly visible!
Photo taken in Galatz, 09.05.2009.
The wreck removal operations started in October 2008.
Built in 1938 at "Burmeister & Wein" Shipyard.
Sistership: "Basarabia" , taken by USSR (renamed Ukraina) after the World War Second.
Laid up after 1975 for 4 years in Constantza. Taken in tow in 1979 to Galatz to be restored at local shipyard.
Capesized on 23.09.1979, due to negligence of Galatz harbour authorities.
In 1982-1983, "Transilvania" was partially scrapped (the straboard of Transilvania was the single part remaining outside the water).
