Built as "Balder Baffin", (Hull 27) at Marystown, Newfoundland, 1980. Launched as a Norwegian-flag ship, but switched to British flag for delivery voyage from Marystown to Halifax, where it spent 6 years on charter to Mobil Oil's Venture Gas Field. It switched to Canadian flag in 1982. Capt. Phil Jarman was the first Master, Stewart Lord was C/E. When Balder Offshore went bankrupt in 1986, "Balder Baffin" was laid up at Shelburne, N.S., subsequently became Secunda Marine Services' "Sable Sea", then sold again as "Marinous"
