This is a scan taken from an old B&W photo of the "Socony Vacuum" taken sometime in the mid 1950's. She is shown in her original livery before Stanvac oil became Mobil oil. She was built in1954 at Bethlehem Steel, Quincy Massachusetts, USA hull # 1647, 27000 DWT. I sailed on her quite a few times while working for Mobil Oil between 1973 to 1983. In 1984 she was sold and became the "Comanche" (it is also shown on this site) and scrapped in 1985.
