SYGNA, norwegian bulker, built 1967 Austin and Pickersgill, Sunderland, 30503gt, A/S Ludwig Mowinckels Rederi, 250574 while lying in ballast at Newcastle, N.S.W., waiting to load a cargo of coal was driven aground during a heavy storm on Stockton Beach, CTL, the stern was left where wrecked but the bow was eventually refloated and towed to Kaohsiung for scrap. Did you know that Sygna and "Happy Dragon" were both built ih two halves and towed to the River Tyne to be joined together? there is a very sharp bend in the River Wear that makes it impossible to get a ship that big around it, so they were built in two.
Thanks for posting
Tom
