Indeed Captain Ted, very true. In fact I just bought a great German book about this subject called "Giganten der Meere: Containerschiffe XXL", very nice. I do think the German influence on the containership world will decrease as all the "KG" companies collapse, one after another. Besides, construction of container ships in Germany has all but stopped.
Geir: I'm not surprised at the long building time! When I look into the orderbooks in IHS Fairplay, all the bigger ships under construction in Iran were ordered before 2008! In fact, the SHAHR E KORD is still supposed to get a sister (IMO 9270696), which was ordered in September 1999 and is supposedly still under construction!

@ rd77
Look 80% of the worlds feeder container fleet and older bigger ones they are all born on german drawing boards or build with assistance of german yards.

Iran's first domestically built container ship if I'm not wrong, and a first on Shipspotting! She does look rather a lot like the German-built container ships that IRISL bought in the late 90s-early 00s.
