Not an expert at all on the privatisation changes but found: "In July 2008 the Bulgarian State Privatization Agency approved the sale of 70% of Navigation Maritime Bulgare to the Bulgarian-German Consortium 'KG Maritime Shipping'."
See also http://www.navbul.com/en/company/history/index.php
They are currently listed as controlling over 30 bulkers (mostly under Maltese flag) as well as a roro and a couple of tugs. They include a new RODINA

However, I guess you are on the right path ... about RODINA and "motherland"
We in the Croatian language have a comparable similarity: the verb RODITI means "to be born"

Ships of Navibulgar, Varna were regular visitors, till the end of 1990s, at shipyard Viktor Lenac, Rijeka for D/D & repairs of numerous vessels from their fleet.
Repairs of the Navibulgar vessels at VLS were all in a significant, extensive scope of works, and duration of a vessel's refit, usually it was an upgrade & certain modification, lasted for 6-12 months.
Suddenly, at beginning of 2000, Navibulgar stopped attending at VLS; Navibulgar was under re-organization and the fleet was separated to various small private owned Bulgarian shipping companies (them each of fleet 1-2 vessels).
I'm much glad that this photo had awoke you good memories, of the good past time, Edson :-)))
Best regards to you and Rio from Rijeka,
Jadran
