Operator: NASM - Nederlandsche Amerikaansche Stoomv Mij (Holland-America Line)
Built 1957 by NV Wilton-Fijenoord, Schiedam , Netherlands, Yard no.753.
Propulsion: twin-screw with four steam turbines developing 22,000 shp for a speed of 19 knots.
1982-sold to Paquet Cruises, renamed RHAPSODY (Panama flag);
1986-sold to Regency Cruises, Nassau, renamed REGENT STAR (Bahamas); steam-to-diesel re-engined with 2 x 16-cylinder Pielstick 16PC2-V and 2 x 12-cylinder 12PC2-V medium speed engines taken from the container vessel MARGARET JOHNSON.
1995-arrested in Greece and taken over by CIT Financiers, New york
1996-sold to Perosea Shipping Co to be renamed SEA HARMONY but laid-up Eleusis Bay, Greece.
2004-(March) sold to Indian breakers and renamed HARMONY 1 (St Vincent + Grenadines flag) for delivery voyage to Alang.
When photographed leaving Rotterdam on 5th July, 1968, STATENDAM was bound, on a liner service, for New York (as evidenced by the Stars-and-Stripes flag flying from the mast).
