STEPHEN BROWN
1954: Bulk cargo ship (collier) built for Messrs J. & A. Brown and Abermain Seaham Collieries Ltd., Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
1984-Present: Purchased in 1984 by the Australian Maritime College and converted into a training ship.
STEPHEN BROWN is moored permanently at Beauty Point, Tasmania where she has been renovated for use as a stationary training ship.
STEPHEN BROWN features a variety of fully-operational machinery located in her holds 1 and 2. These are used for training seafaring students on how to rebuild and maintain engines. She also features a Damage Control (Flood) Unit which includes three flood-able compartments located in her superstructure. This unit is used to provide damage control training for civil and Department of Defence Pacific Patrol Boat personnel.
