So, based on Juergen's intel it is FGS U-36 (S186).

Hello Captain Ted! There is a simple reason for that: money! They are quite advanced and perform well but they are expensive,too. Strategically the german navy would need a minimum of 12 boats since all other submarines are retired since 2010. The italian navy operates two boats of this class (212 A) built in italy (they are a german-italian design) and there is a export Version called class 214.

U36 was the only german sub in Kiel that date.

German Navy Type 212, only six of them in German service (U-31 through U-36).
