Her boiler probably had no draught fan or exhaustor,
a tall funnel gives a good natural draught.

Is there a valid reason for the funnel to be that high for a ship of that time? Such was mostly on early locomotives in the 19th century...

Saw Rehhorst 1958 or 59 at Cuxhaven where Ottens or Kohlenkontor supplied her with coal, still remember her remarkable funnel. Other steamers of Ick (Almut, Lothar, Victor , etc ) came also now and then to Cuxhaven.

One of the very last postwar steamers of the westgerman merchant fleet. Owned by Johannes Ick, Baumwall 3, Hamburg, since 1951 until 1965, broken up at Lubeck. First Manager: Th. Brøvig, Farsund (NOR). Tonnage: 1.305 gt. Delivered from Stavanger Støberi & Dock, Stavanger (NOR) in Mai-1930 as "Vardvik" to Erling Marcussen, Lyngør. 1305 gt, 739 net, 2050 tdwt, 242.7' x 37.2' x 15.3', Tripple exp. (builders), 163 nhp. Sold in 1934 to Partrederiet Lillemor (Th. Brøvig), Farsund and renamed "Lillgunvor". In World War II part of the Norwegian Shipping and Trade Mission (Nortraship). Regards Peter
