Yes Henk, this is more interesting work than lying stand-by at an oilfield :-).
Thank you Rick, I am not sure if the crew were thinking about food at all before they were
well moored at Sortland :-)
Jens and rd 77, there were no help from outside, they were pumping ballast as soon as they
came inshore with calmer seas, I guess nobody were allowed to enter the engine room when they were
outside at open seas as it looked dangerous every time they rolled over to port side in heavy
swell. She was followed by her sister MEKHANIK MAKARIN until we took over and escorted
her in to Sortland.

Excellent photo and excellent crew! But I would also like to turn back your attention to rd77's question as this is most interesting. I'd surely have thought she was lost without help from the outside. How did the crew do this masterpiece?

Russian sailors never give up !!!!!I once was in a similar situation myself, I can well imagine what the guys had to face. With great respect for the ship's crew.

Amongst all your excellent shots from Thailand & elsewhere, this is surely one of your very best Geir.
Exceptional content, background and not forgetting great 'salvage' work by the crew in those conditions.
I expect the cook was a very unhappy man/woman while that list was on!
Regards, Rick

Hello Frank

I think they put the bridge in the hold untill they got to the open sea.

That's the cream on a stand-by job Geir! Good work from the crew to safe that vessel!

Amazing. Not only is it a great show of seamanship, workmanship and teamwork, but it was built in Austria. How did they manage to get her to the open sea? Is there not some hight restrictions with regards to her accomadation block when departing the building yard in Austria and sailing to the open sea?.

Regards
Frank

Wow ho do you manage to recover from that? Use of ballast tanks or does one have physically shift the cargo?

Great and exceptional crew work to save vessel and cargo with so big list. And they arrived in port.
Great Captain & crew!

That is right Allan and when she arrived at Sortland the crew had managed to straighten
the vessel up so much that she was nearly not listing at all when she arrived safely at Sortland.
I have posted two photos of her at Sortland:

Marine Traffic shows her berthed at Sortland at 14:10, looks like timber cargo shifted and she made a run for port

It is much lower in the water than in the first picture. Is it sinking?
