Description:
A freak wave and strong winds on 4th January 1998 ripped panels from the bow when leaving Harwich. Damage estimated 250.000 pounds was caused and repairs to last at least six weeks. She arrived at Hook of Holland for unloading and remained moored for a week. Meanwhile passengers were transferred by bus to Calais and cars directed to Calais. After some repairs at yard Wilton-Fijenoord the ferry went to the yard in Finland for final repairs. About four weeks after the accident the sistership STENA VOYAGER was sent from the Irish Sea to Hook of Holland / Harwich.
