Description:

The jack up drilling rig Rowan Norway, was built in Singapore, in 2011. Her almost triangular hull, is 80.04m long by 88.08m wide. Her gross tonnage is 20,240 tons. The rig can carry a load of 4,159 tons.
The rig is designed to drill a 35,000ft well. To enable this, her derrick is rated for a lifting capacity of 1,000 tons. Her 3 legs are 568ft long, and enables her to drill in 400ft of water. This capability means the rig is capable of working in most areas of the UK North Sea, except the Northern North Sea. The rig has finally left Dundee to start a 2 well 110 day contract in the Mediterranean. The rig is first of all heading for Burntisland in the Firth of Forth. There she will be loaded onto the semisubmersible heavy lift carrier Dockwise White Marlin, for the journey to the Mediterranean.
