Description:

US Maritime Administration owned and administered Roll On Roll Off Cargo Ship berthed in Portsmouth VA.
She is maintained in 5 Day Readiness Status with a full time crew of 9. When activated she has a crew of 25 and currently has a capacity of over 132,000 Square Feet of Parking Space. She has a top speed of 17.6 Knots.
She was built in 1977 in Japan and was previously known as the MV SEASPEED ASIA and MV SAUDI MAKKAH. She was acquired by the US Maritime Administration in 1994 and converted to her current status with her new name.
She was activated in 2014 to support the destruction of chemical weapons from Syria and again in 2018 to deliver needed humanitarian supplies to Wilmington NC after all land routes to the city were blocked in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
