Stunning picture of this nice oldie! She was the precursor to the successful Viking series built by Meyer.

That is the fault of the data provider Gross Tonnage which went belly-up about 4 years ago, but a replacement data provider (at reasonable cost I suppose) has not yet been found. Gross Tonnage had the habit of "forgetting" the earliest names of the ship. They were not too interested in "dead" ships, they even called them irrelevant.

What's wrong with the system? The IMO no. is right there - in fact all the information is on this site. Yet ex names like VIKINGFJORD and PRINZ HAMLET II somehow vanish, why is that?
Just puzzled.
