The Barge LST 92 Rancagua, was built for the Chilean Navy by Asmar Talcahuano, in accordance with the drawings of the Class "Batral" of the French Navy of France, previous agreement with the government of the above mentioned country.

She was launched the 26th of September of 1981
At present the barge is one of the main means in which the Navy counts to carry out Amphibious Operations and to transport Marine troops and to serve, also, for the load transport and passengers, tasks that have meant to have to sail along the whole coast, including the insular possessions of Isla de Pascua, Isla Sala and Gómez, Isla San Félix and Archipelago Juan Fernández.
