Pieter, whilst that is true, this thread began with a bold (and possibly unjustified) assumption that all people who own yachts such as this one are flaunting/showing off their yachts. Maybe some people do, after all we know that some do so with cars. However, I feel that some of the comments in this thread have rather too much spite and jealousy about them. I have had enough and will comment no further.

Clive, there is one little word in Vlad's sentence which makes it a bit problematic. It is the word "off". If people would just be happy to show their wealth in the artistic way described by Vlad, (in the classic way of a Maecenas) I am happy with that, but showing it off means that your only interest is to show that your wealth is larger than that of your fellow rich.

Vlad, Thank you. Your final sentence sums it up perfectly.

Do not underestimated human greed.

Because "...greed, for lack of a better word, is good." (Gordon Gekko). :)

As for honest work, someone buying about 1000 $ worth of bitcoin ten years ago could well afford buying this yacht today. (I said buying her, not running her. That other part would still mean getting into some very lucrative business deals.)

As for showing off ones wealth, if it wasn't for that, our world would have considerably less beautiful works of art, architecture and so on...

Cheers

Vlad

Well now that the cat is amongst the pigeons, this photo is raking in the 'views' with all the comments....my 5 cents worth ? I wouldn't mind one of them if I had that sort of cash....I could survive without a helicopter...maybe an onboard theater would be nice...and of course a big boudoir and bar 🤣🤣🤣

Nobody can make that much money with moral and honest work.

I have been several times to the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, and I know many of the people who are participating there. For many participants the size of their yacht in the marina is a greater competition than actually racing between the guardrails on the track. Would it not a be a good idea that they participate, at least a certain period of the year, in the collection of drowning fugitives in the Mediterranean?

Without getting into the argument how the owner amassed his money. In this world we are living in,...if you have money and you spend it in luxury, you are dubbed a "show off" and if you have it and don't spend it you are the ultimate "miser " or Scrooge.......either way you are the talk of the town.
and NO , I don't have any money stashed away, just a pension.
keep healthy and stay safe ,that is the most important these days.

You can see that way, but you don't have to. It's all a matter of morality.

DDGHANSA, all that I can say is thank goodness for the rich, the famous and the flamboyant. They bring excitement and glamour to our lives - and not forgetting some considerable measure of employment.

I would live in a decent house but not flaunt my wealth. These ships have no other use than to shamelessly show how rich you are.

So gentlemen, are you saying that if you had those hundreds of millions of whatever currency that you would live in a small and modest house or apartment, would only drive an ordinary motor car, not travel to distant and exotic locations and not indulge yourselves in a boat or yacht of some kind....??

Nice ship, yes, but even so, such a ship is only used to show off its wealth. I fully agree with Matt B.

Original owner is a Russian oligarch included in the US Treasury's "Putin List".

What nonsense MattB. Most of these owners worked very hard for their money and in many cases started with nothing. The owner of this particular boat started working at 16 with no money and practically no education.

Nice picture though.

These people make me sick ! They come out, flaunting their yachts at us, advertising "here I am", "look at my big yacht"," I'm bigger than you". That is total avarice !!!
