I was Mate of this mighty vessel when on the thames run and a long trip to Bordeaux with carbon black.She was an ex cargo ship converted to carry black oils only. Best pumproom ever.

I remember this one well Derek, though never got a shot of her. I think at this time she had already been converted to a tanker. Thanks for posting.

I was working as Second Mate on the Ashurst during the miners strike. We would load at Purfleet and discharge at Littlebrook! Sometimes we'd get a 'long trip' up to Poplar and once or twice we 'went foreign' and did runs to Kingsnorth in the Medway.

How do I go about purchasing copies of photo's on this website? I've looked under FAQ but it doesn't really give any clear advice.
