Built 1944 at Sun S.B.Co. at Chester, Pa. as SOUTH MOUNTAIN, being renamed MISSISSIPPI in 1950 and TEXACO MISSISSIPPI in 1959.
In 1964 she was rebuilt with new cargo-section and bow at Newport News, and her deadweight increased from 16613 to 26580 t.dw.
In 1990 she was renamed STAR MISSISSIPPI.
In november 1992 she arrived Alang, India, for B/U. Her name was then amended to STAR MIST.
