December 13 1979: having just passed through the Hormuz Strait, inbound to the Gulf, suffered a huge explosion in one of the tanks resulting in heavy damage to the deck & starboard side of the hull; crew abandoned ship. Towed to a position east of Mina Saqr, but on 15th December she broke in two and the afterpart sank. The forepart was then towed to Dubai (as per this photo), from where it was towed away in March 1980 & delivered for scrapping in South Korea
