She was built as the Ro/Ro vessel FERNHILL by Kristiansand Mekaniske Verksted, Norway (Yard#220) in 1973 but before she entered service the ship was transferred to a Dutch company and sailed under the flag of Netherlands Antilles as the BEGONIA. Until 1984 she was working between Florida and the Caribbean and also the Baltic and the Mediterranean. During 1984 she was purchased by a German company(after a huge conversion)and entered her life as the cruise ship EXPLORER STARSHIP. Another change of ownership and name followed, this time as the Radisson Seven Seas vessel SONG OF FLOWER. In 2003 she came under French ownership as LE DIAMANT. Finally, as of 2012, taken over again and renamed OCEAN DIAMOND.
