Hi,
in this photo we probably see one of the Yankee Jeeps as Yvon said. The hull is being painted from maybe war time grey to black using stages.
From all N3-S-A1 and N3-S-A2 I found 3 ships changing the ownership to Genoa, Italy in the 1950s. Maybe this goes on in the photo.
1. CESARE CORSINI (50-53) later ARNO (53-64) ex GURDEN GATES.
2. PIETRO CANALE (50-54) ex WILLIAM BURSLEY
3. MARIA COSULICH (52-64) ex WILLIAM HOMAN.
This is ARNO:

Some others went to Italy but registered in other ports:
TERESA COSULICH ex REUBEN SNOW, Trieste
MARECHIARO ex CHARLES HULL, Napoli
ISOLA DE SARDEGNA ex John B. Joyce, Cagliari
BELLUNO ex EPHRAIM HARDING, Venezia
MARIA CARLA ex SAMUEL F. DEWING, Roma (?)
CITTA DI LECCE ex SAMUEL A. FABENS, Brindisi
TREVISO ex SAMUEL SAMUELS, Venezia
ROVIGO ex GEORGE W. BROWN, Venezia
Brgds, Manfred

Hi,
Look like one of the numerous WWII 'Jeep' type. Please see https://www.maritime.dot.gov/multimedia/n3-s-a1-type*
