According to the vessel's technical managers, "During Kmarin Reason's transit a container vessel transiting inbound on the Thames reported a fire in the Engine Room. This does not apply to our managed vessel Kmarin Reason ." The information was confirmed by the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency, who identified the vessel involved in the incident: "The fully cellular containership Buxcoast (IMO 9221827, 72760 gt, built 2001) experienced a main engine scavenge fire whilst in the Thames Estuary after departing London Gateway port on 06 Sept. HM Coastguard and MCA were informed. The fire was confined within the engine's scavenge air receiver and was extinguished quickly by the ship's crew. The vessel remained at anchor for a couple of days in the estuary, and then continued on her voyage to Hamburg a couple of days later. There was no reported damage to the vessel.
