Description:

The 1958 Doxford built, Greek (Margaronis) owned, POLYXENI, still named BANGLAR POLYXENI following the end of a charter to Bangladesh, is seen at anchor off Apapa/Lagos on 4th January 1976.

She had arrived from Spain on 14th August 1975 with a cargo of bagged cement which was discharged in June 1976. She then proceeded on 2nd July for Avonmouth, possibly to dry dock, and from there to Rostock to load cargo for Mogadiscio

My first thought on seeing this photo was "Bank Line". In my time with Brocklebank's in the early sixties we often crossed paths with ships of this class and I was always impressed by their modern, sleek and elegant lines. Lovely to see her, thanks for posting Malcolm.
