Completed in 1943 as ARALIZZ by Oresundsvarvet, Landskrona, for owners A/B Arafart of Stockholm
2681grt. Steam reciprocating machinery
1955 registered to A R Appelqvist A/B of Stockholm, name unchanged
1960 registered to Etela-Suomen Laiva Oy of Helsinki, renamed ARKADIA
1966 registered to Laiva Oy Ritva of Helsinki, renamed ROINE
1966 the ship suffered heavy bottom damage when she ran aground near Hogland Island on August 22nd while on passage Inkoo to Leningrad. She was refloated five days later
She was finally demolished at Savona in December 1967 after suffering fire damage at Thessaloniki in August

Interesting indeed, this company (Etela) meaning "south" in Finnish I understood is still existing and also serving the same cargo trade as on the photo , that is supplying Finlands coal-powered Electricity plants with coal, although with larger vessels nowadays.

I wish I could throw some light on the activity with the boat. Enlarging the picture has made me no wiser.

Superb shot and subject as usual. I just wonder what is happening with the boat. It has been lowered from the davits on the poop, and has made its way round to where the pilot ladder is, seemingly carrying its own ladder!
