Description:
US-tanker PURE OIL is here seen on the Mississippi River in august 1980.
She was built 1945 at Bethlehem Steel, Sparrows Point (Baltimore), and is of the T3-type tanker.
This vessel seem to have sailed her whole life under the same name, and without any noteable modifications. The only change seem to be that owning company changed name from Pure Oil Co. to Union Oil Co. of California in 1965.
About one year after I took this photo, on 22 september 1981 she arrived at Brownsville, Tx. for B/U.
