Description:

Product tanker A Leopard passing Balls Head on approach to the Gore Cove terminal. Tug Svitzer Waratah at stern, tugs Svitzer Maringa & Bullara obscured. She had berthed at Gore Cove last week, but was moved to Botany Bay on Friday to remove possible risks from the New Years eve fireworks display on the harbour. Wonder who paid the bill for that!

Further to that it is an interesting ship, from the IMO number it can be derived that it was delivered late, as can be explained by the fact that it was an uncompleted hull from HHIC (Hanjin) facility on the Philippine Islands that went bust. The ship was completed by the Hanjin Busan yard, which in itself had also been scaled down to producing small stuff, the last capesize was delivered in 2017. There is a sistership (LION, 9835877), which was also delivered in 2021.

Fred, very nice photograph. Can understand why it would not be good with fireworks.

Thanks Tony - yes we wouldn't want that spectacle for NYE.
