Description:

21/03/2023, Puerto de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Islas Canarias, Spain.

Abandoned in the port since October 2020. It appears the Russian owners ran out of money during repairs.

In May 2021, the 15 Russian and Ukrainian crew members were repatriated to their respective homes, and received four months of wages owed to them by the shipowner.

The Port Authorities initiated legal action through the local court, and the vessel was arrested and detained.

The ship was due to be sold by auction on 12/12/2022, with a guide price of €358,000.00.

The ship failed to sell at auction on 12/12/2022, and was again put up for auction on 03/02/2023, and again, it appears that it failed to sell.

On 18/03/2023, the ship was renamed 'Rio' and a day or two later a further brush stroke was added to become 'Rioi'.

It seems that the Port Authorities have arranged the renaming. The ship is still unmanned.

A former Cameroon flagged, with Russian principals, refrigerated cargo carrier.
