Description:

Built in 1968 at Burntisland, Scotland, for the East & West Steamship Company of Karachi, Pakistan, the OHRMAZD is here seen at Avonmouth shortly after arriving from Karachi on 26th April 1973, exactly fifty years ago today.

In 1974 the shipping industry in Pakistan was nationalised and OHRMAZD was thereafter operated (and repainted in less attractive colours) by the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation. She arrived at Gadani Beach on 6th July 1994 to be scrapped.

Miramar indicates that passenger accommodation was removed at an unknown date.

The ship in the background is the EDGAR ANDRE of VEB Deutsche Seereederi.

Hi Malcolm,
thanks for sharing this lilac lady with us. Lots of new designed stuff visible like the masts, gear and accommodation. Hope it all fulfilled their expectations, she stayed a single ship I think. Only five years old in your photo she was in need of more attention.
Best wishes, Manfred
