A picture of the very first full container ship.
The ship was converted into a container ship in 1957 after a tanker - the Ideal X - was modified by Malcolm McLean to carry containers on deck the year before.
She was built as a general cargo ship during WW II (ex Sumter-1946; ex Iberville-1947; Converted from General Cargo-1957)
