Hi adenanthos,
I think the grey-hulled split-accommodation vessel (4th from the left) might be IMO 5424201, if the date is between 1971 - 80 she is PANAGIA.

Beautiful photo. I remember when she was built in Savona. She was launched as Luigi G. Melloni, for a shipowner in Savona, but the first name was Espresso Special. Regards. Baldizza.

Laid up no more Malcolm. I just got a delightful video of her motoring out of Milford Marina. Sounded good too. I'm aware she had a Kelvin T6 engine originally but I wonder if she's had a replacement? Would be great to know these details.

For my taste, it cannot be denied that this ship looks very good with that color combination, apart from the fact that it looks very nice to look at.

Tomi.

Thank you topic, this is the end of a 90 year plus era. Lack of berths and high costs a major contributor.

First a little History of the Port of Santa Cruz

Towards the end of 1878, the expedition of Commodore Luis Py disembarked, in charge of a small division of the Argentine Navy, whose purpose was to support the rights of our country in the southernmost part of the continent, in times of dispute with Chile. This action is considered the first Argentine operation of a naval sea division, which motivated that December 1st was instituted as the Day of the Argentine Sea Fleet and as the founding date of Puerto Santa Cruz when the national flag was hoisted.

Little by little the population settlement was consolidated, by virtue of the official advantages offered to work the land and promote the colonization of the region.

Those interested would receive a league of land, 500 sheep, some cows, a hut and elements for tilling the soil, facilities that would then have to be returned by the settlers within a period of five years and at the end of which they would receive the definitive ownership of the land.

The Fundación para el Trabajo y Desarrollo Humano (TDH) presented at the Yacht Club of Puerto Madero two state-of-the-art boats to clean the water surface in the estuary of the Río de la Plata.

The boats were named “Aguas Limpias I” and “Aguas Limpias II” (Clean Waters I and II), and carry out the cleaning work by vacuuming liquid and solid waste from the surface of the water bodies.
