Here the picture link where they are all on top of the Xiang Yun Kou : http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2816815

They were all transported on the Xiang Yun Kou, as I passed the vessel when she loaded them and then the vessel moved upriver to NOLA for rough a week to secure all the ships on her deck.

The specific question of the use of images by the organisation mentioned has been taken up direct - no further comment on that is appropriate here.

(Good for your views, though, Capt Ted!)

Hello Phil and Jens, thanks for the info. For me personally, It would be OK whn they put credit, but of course that's something everyone has to decide...What I understand even less is when shipping companys contact me wanting photo use for free. I mean, if its to boost their profits, then...But anyway this subject is a large debate probably ;-) Have a good evening and a fine weekend!

I realise that, Jens. For most shipspotters, the stealing of their photos by Robin Des Bois probably has few consequences, apart from it being a slimy practice. For me however, it could be different.

Phil, I didn't want to play down the unasked use of our photos by them. As it only happened to me once I can live with it. Of course when it's having a negative impact on you personally and/or your job I can completely understand your anger and that you are in no way willing to tolerate this practice! The more so as they didn't even bother to reply...

Cheers
Jens

@Theo: I forgot to say it in my first comment. Interesting photo and ships. Offshore vessels can only seldom be seen here at Hamburg...

Robin Des Bois have used my photos several times without my permission, but credited me accordingly. However, that's the problem. Having my name associated with their work could potentially be damaging to me. I contacted them about it at the time and Ken Smith, the then webmaster of shipspotting.com, was also informed. Predictably, they did not reply.

Tidewater ships like to use their pioneer staff names for their fleet.

Yes Max, once they used one of my photos, too (without permission), but from what I've seen so far they at least state the copyright. And as I don't see anything dodgy in their reports I took no further action back then...

Do they? I used to quite like those reports...also stuff like abandoning ships and crews etc and dealings like that deserves to be exposed, I'd think, doesn't mean everyone's evil, my humble opinion :)

Hey "Robin des Bois" don't expect any help when you routinely steal photos from here and put them in your dodgy 'shipowners are evil' report.

OK then
From another postI understand the ships transported on the heavy lift carrier were Carline Tide, William E Bright, Richard A Philippi, Alden J Laborde, William C O Malley (they were those not mentioned under tow or dead by the way)

Hello here is a list of supply vessels all deflagged to Palau and beached in Alang. Some of them were mentioned "under tow" or "dead vessel", but I guess they were actually carried on Xiang Yun Kou. Did any one see them leaving? Did some of them leave on their own power?

Ted: all the ships from this batch that I have looked up are listed as "to be broken up". Let's keep an eye on where the heavy lifter (XIANG YUN KOU - IMO 9483097) transporting them is heading. I wonder if they are allowed to scrap these ships in China, as I understand the Chinese government has put a ban on importing waste (well, most of it anyway).

Thanks 3SX, I had no idea there were two different ones with almost the same name. Proper shipspotting skills from your side!
