Many thanks to you all for taking an interest, have tried re-scanning at 9600 dpi but to no avail (very disappointing the lack of improvement at that res). Will try on an old-fashioned projector next few days. Might even get the name of the small Turk.

She is definitely a Freedom Mk.II and I think Yvon is correct. She looks like yard # 2650 Yorktown. The hull, funnel and gear colours are correct, and the real giveaway for me is that the port of registry, Nassau, is offset to the left under the York part of the name. I have a stern 3/4 shot of her showing this detail.

Launched 11.11.1977 as Al Aleem for Bold Bay Shg. Co. {Gulfeast S.M., but delivered 14.12.1979 to Anangel Okim Cia Nav. and chartered to Canadian-American Transport Inc. Renamed Kolka 1986 and 5 more names later, beached Alang 07:2009 as the Villarreal, Turkish flag.

According to "Lloyd´s Shipping Index" of September 25th, 1984 "Yorktown" left Savona July 10th and arrived New Orleans August 3rd. Next of my indexes (December 28th, 1984) shows her at Hamburg October 20th.

Thanks Juergen, I realise this is a difficult one due to there being so many sister vessels but hoping there may be distinguishing features like funnel colours that can help me narrow down the field.
