Description:
New Zealand Government vessel Moana Roa at Lyttelton. She was built by Grangemouth Dockyard in 1960 to provide a passenger and cargo service from New Zealand to the Cook Islands and could carry 40 passengers and both general and refrigerated cargo. After an airport was built at Rarotonga she became redundant and was converted into a survey ship for the Royal New Zealand Navy in 1975-77 and renamed Monowai. She was broken up at El Puerto de Santa Maria, Cadiz, in 2003.
