Description:

The 1939 Dundee built GLENGYLE, which was delivered to Glen Line in April 1940, is seen passing Gravesend on Thursday 3rd August 1967 outbound from London's Royal Docks for Hsinkang (now Tianjin Xingang) via Rotterdam.

She was transferred in 1970 to Blue Funnel Line to trade as DEUCALION until finally arriving at Kaohsiung on 9th June 1971 for breaking.

This Wartime survivor was a very lucky ship for me as GLENGYLE had passed Gravesend shortly after I left hospital after three days laid up and heading home to Portishead. I later photographed her as DEUCALION passing Portishead on her last voyage in April 1971.
