Operator: Pac Trade Navigation Co. Flag: Liberia.
Built 1946 by Bartram & Sons Ltd, Sunderland. Yard no. 309
Propulsion: 3,650 ihp triple expansion steam reciprocating by North Eastern Marine Engineering Co, Wallsend. Service speed: 11.5 knots.
Built as MARGAY for Kaye, Son + Co and sailed with that London-based company until 1962,when she was sold and renamed STAR PINK.
Sold again in 1966, she became OCEAN PINK, under the British Hong Kong flag before being bought by Pac Trade Navigation Co in 1967 and renamed MARIA ANA as in the photo.
Her final sale was in 1969 for operation under the Nicaraguan flag as VELTA and as such she sank 13/2/1971, 200 nm south of the Azores.

Sailed with an AB who had Ben on her and had a lot to say about it! Apparently she was owned by the same people who later purchased the Crystal Diamond Vanda. I was told that both were commanded by a Captain Slayer and a Latvian crew.
