I crossed on Voyage 1E in May 1973 from Port Elizabeth to Rotterdam, on my way to work the summer as a hull inspector on the third SL-7 built at RDM, the "Sea-Land Resource." We averaged 31.85 knots from Ambrose Light to Bishop's Rock, then lost both radars in the English Channel. Absolutely stupendous ships!
