Description:
East Germany's "XA" type EDGAR ANDRE was photographed departing from Avonmouth on 5th May 1973 following discharge of a cargo from Port Sudan.
She had sailed from Port Sudan on 25th August, and Mombasa on 11th September, bound for Rostock
The first of the "X" class, built at Warnemunde in 1962, she was in 1980 modified into a "heavy metal carrier" and traded as such until 27.7.91 when sold to breakers through intermediaries Incom Shiptrade of London, who shortened the ship's name to EDGAR for her delivery voyage to Gadani Beach where she arrived on 5.12.91.
