Description:

December 9, 2009, the worlds first hydrogen fuel cell canal trip boat was baptised in Amsterdam. Picture taken in Meppel, December 7th, 2009
Passengers: 87 + 1 Staff (Weight up to 100 persons)
21.95 m long and 4,25 m wide
Draught: 1 meter, gangway 65 cm above the waterline
1 electrical Voith inline stern thruster, this is a shaftless bi-directional propeller; the propeller housing can rotate more than 180º (electro-mechanically)
1 electrical bow thruster The Kalkman Epsylon bow thruster is a type of water jet system. The exhaust can rotate 360º (electro-mechanically) thus supporting side moves as well as enhancing forward or backward propulsion. It works as a high power auxiliary thruster.
This high power bow thruster allows the shipper to reach banks or quaysides in case of emergency.
Hybrid power system: 60-70 kW PEM fuel cell with 30-50kW batteries Fuel cells perform with the highest energy efficiency at a continuous equal load. The demand of energy will show peaks. For high energy demand (peaks) the fuel cell boat is supplied with a large battery park.
Hydrogen storage: 24 kg stored in 6 cylindrical bottles at a pressure of 35 MPa
Maximum speed: 16 km/hour
Radius: depending on speed; indication 9 hours at a speed of 7,5 knots
