It is very intresting - Who did give names for USSR navy vessels? "Sliva" in Russian means "Plum". :-)

Hi, this is official NATO code, because at the time was known officially codename VMF USSR. Appendix a plum - plum brandy is great! Moravian specialties.

I ment about people which did it. They are from NATO, as I understand. Did they know about meaning of words, which were choosed by them for Vessels designation? Or they used "code" names, which were given by spy? :-D

Of course, someone suggested the code name, discussed it and began to be used. It is, obviously, having no known project numbers, name of ships - everything was in the ex Soviet Union secretly, you know. Even in eastern press camouflaged tactical issues! I am convinced that very well knew the importance of ”code“ words. If you played a role in secret service, is likely.
