WELCOME TO SHIPSPOTTING.COM
Description:
Balmoral was originally launched as a car/passenger ferry of the Red Funnel Line on 27th June 1949 to operate on the Solent out of Southampton. Sold to PA Campbell for service in the Bristol Channel. The Waverley Steam Navigation Co wanted a fleet-consort to their famous ocean-going Paddle Steamer Waverley and puchased her. She now usually operated the Bristol Channel but she is seen here paying a visit to the River Clyde to escort the QE2 up channel , on her very last visit on October 5th 2008. Balmoral celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 2009.
