Description:

At time of the picture, she ended a long period of Sand dredging in the vicinity of Brest. But she is apparently very old and supposed to be built in the second World War in Germany. The class surveyor told me that her Main Engine at time of the picture (Summer 1999) was the last SULZER of this type still service

found some more info
ship sailed 14.10.2006 as karthala from brest to douala .i have also a photo from here in douala in 2007 but no copyright so i can´t post the photo.

the falleron was built 1937 at schiffswerft wilhelm holst in
hamburg-neuenfelde with yard no 150 her name than was welle and here owner was hermann rahmstorf from hamburg-hausbruch.he owned the vessel from 29.9.1937 till 1945,when the vessel was seized by france in st.nazaire.1945 the vessel sailed for the french navy as falleron KO8.1951 name was the same falleron but the navy sign was A614 .in 1957 name still falleron but navy sign Q570 .1978 the french navy sold the vessel to a privat company in france .i have no more info after 1978.
