Description:
The Tranztas Trader in Australia National Lines colours at Port Chalmers. Completed by the Mathias-Thesen yard at Wismar as Watergeus in 1988 she became Tranztas Trader the following year, then Orient Aishwarya and Phu Tan in 1998. As Phu Tan she foundered on 16 December 2010 while en route Da Nang to Haiphong with the loss of 25 lives.

I haven't checked on line but all Marine News has is:- "Took water, developed a list and sank 16/12/2010 in heavy weather in the Gulf of Tonkin , 125 miles west of Sanya, Hainan. 2 crew rescued, 1 recovered dead and 24 are missing."

I was her port agent in Auckland, so was on her many times.
any idea on what happened on such a "short sea" voyage.
Hard to beleive.
