Hi Christ and captain ted! Was just doing a search on the particular ship! And was wondering if you could do with another picture of this boat in trouble in 1987! It ran aground on our beach in 87! If google a search of ship on the beach in tramore you will see a picture of what I think is the same ship! I know the posts are a year old but hopefully you can shed some light on this for me!
Thanks Jason

Hi chris
10 29.2N and 67 59.6W , pos good to 1 cable or better. She is not marked in the chart. If you/roger google and look from top she lies just N of the 3 finger piers in the N part of the port, E of the Navy areal.
I looked up the Gladonia and there is a picture of her on spotting, one remarkable likeness is the remaining stump of the foundation of the aft mast, just in front of the funnel. It looks exactly the same as good to see in my high res picture. Pretty unlikely that 2 ships as wrecks in the same port have something like that alike.
Then the "Bosco", the other candidate burned out in 2002, I think I remember that vessel when she was alongside at the berth 13/14 (wreck area) for a while. If my brain cells don,t trick me she had a black hull. The other point, the vessel in that pos does look like there already for a while, if it would be the BOSCO she should not look like that detoriated already after barely a decade. So, I tend also to say this is the Gladonia.
Give my regards and thanks to Roger.

Dear Captain Ted

Received this from Rodger, think it is the Gladonia.

Hi Chris,

I have run a filter for all cargo ships less than 1000grt built 1951-1979. Not necessarily a complete list, but two candidates stand out (names as built):

5049409 BOSCO 942gt/1958, fire 18nm off Puerto Cabello and abandoned in the port, 2002

5420138 GLADONIA 658gt/1963, foundered in the port "prior to 31/12/99".

My pick would be GLADONIA, but without any evidence....... These are the only two, as far as I know, which fit the possible description and are at Puerto Cabello.

Cheers,

Rodger
