Description:
This telephoto view emphasizes the size and bulk of the 1,000 foot long Stewart J. Cort. Built in 1972 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the Cort was the first 1,000 foot Great Lakes bulker built, a fact signified by the large #1 on the aft accommodation structure, out of sight in this compressed telescopic view. Upbound on March 25, 2011, the first day of operation in the 2011 navigation season of the Soo Locks. Special thanks to Ken Smith for all of the Great Lakes ship categories -- they are much appreciated.
